Kybella Pre + Post Care Instructions

TREATMENT TIME: 30-60 Minutes
ANESTHETIC: Ice and/or Vibrating T-Bar
RECOVERY TIME: Swelling will be at its peak days 1-5, and can take up to 2-3 weeks for mild swelling to fully subside. Possible bruising/tenderness can last up to 1-2 weeks depending on your body; mild numbness can last 1 month or longer.
NOTICEABLE RESULTS: Up to 4-6 weeks following treatment
NUMBER OF TREATMENTS NEEDED: 2-6 treatments depending on how much volume you have and how well you respond to the treatment

PRE CARE INSTRUCTIONS

If approved by your primary care provider, avoid all blood thinners one week before having your injections. This may include Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, and Primrose oil.

Avoid alcohol 1-2 days prior to treatment to lessen the chances of bruising.

Plan procedures 2-3 weeks before important events.

Oral Arnica is optional prior to treatment to minimize bruising.

If possible, come to your appointment with a clean face, free of make-up.

We will not treat you with Kybella if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or leaving town within 24 hours.

POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS

You may feel numb and sore for several weeks.

Do not massage the treated areas.

Avoid any irritants in the area (glycolic acid, retinoids, etc.) until all redness/swelling resolves.

You may apply cool compresses/ice for 15 minutes per hour for comfort and to help reduce some swelling.

Please contact us if skin is broken or irritated.

Tylenol can be safely taken for discomfort.

After treatment, refrain from strenuous exercise, hot tubs, sauna use and drinking alcohol for 48 hours.

Do not plan major dental work (excluding routine cleanings) for two weeks after the injection procedure.

Immediately notify the office if you have any questions or concerns, or see any signs of problems, which could include: Severe or worsening pain, redness, swelling, bruising, or lumpiness.

Immediately notify the office if you have concerns of poor blood supply, often presenting like blanched skin or strange bruising.

Report to the office any trouble swallowing, an uneven smile or trouble with moving the mouth/chin.
