Filler Pre + Post Care Instructions

TREATMENT TIME: 30-60 Minutes, depending on the treatment area and the number of syringes.
ANESTHETIC: Topical Numbing, Injectable Numbing, Lidocaine in the Filler, Vibrating T-Bar, Ice, and/or Dental Block.
RECOVERY TIME: 2 weeks for swelling, bruising, and tenderness to subside (in some cases 2-4 weeks for swelling/inflammation to subside).
NOTICEABLE RESULTS: Immediately with some swelling (often asymmetric swelling). Peak results are seen about 2-4 weeks after swelling subsides. Swelling will become more pronounced before it gets better.
NUMBER OF TREATMENTS NEEDED: Depends on the patient's desired results and the provider's recommendations. Refer to consultation.

If approved by your primary care provider, avoid all blood thinners one week before having your injections. This may include Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, and Primrose oil.

Avoid alcohol 1-2 days prior to treatment to lessen the chances of bruising. Bruising and swelling are always a possibility.

Plan procedures 2-3 weeks before important events.

No dental work 2 weeks prior to your treatment.

Oral Arnica is optional prior to treatment to help minimize bruising.

If possible, come to your appointment with a clean face, free of make-up.

We will not treat you with dermal fillers/injectables if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or leaving town within 24 hours.

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Do not apply make-up preferably for 4 hours after treatment. Waiting 24 hours is best. Let us touch you up with our medical grade products at the beauty bar if you want to look polished when you leave your appointment.

Continue to avoid alcohol for 1-2 days if bruising occurs as it could worsen.

If approved by your primary care provider, continue to avoid blood thinning medications for up to 1 week after treatment to avoid bruising.

Continuing to take Arnica after treatment (while bruising persists) can help to heal bruising faster.

No dental work for 2 weeks after your treatment.

Do not massage the treated area. Fillers will settle and soften on their own.

Avoid IPL/BBL or microneedling for 1-2 weeks post-procedure.

Call the office immediately if the areas treated become red or hot to the touch days after treatment or if you notice any odd bruising or evidence of poor blood flow to your skin.

Call the office as soon as possible if patchy, red, or hot patches appear in the treatment area or around the treatment area, if you have severe or increasing pain, or if the area becomes red or hot to the touch after the procedure.
